2024 Rules & Regulations
Please read the following rules and regulations carefully as failure to comply could result in disqualification.
We have a limited number of spaces for the World Dance Pageant. Each completed registration form will be dated according to the date it is received; thus, filling the number of spaces available. Registration received after all spaces are filled will be placed on a waiting list.
1. Qualifications
There is no preliminary qualification required to compete in the World Dance Pageant.
2. Standards
All contestants will adhere to the standards set by the World Dance Pageant. The standards are as follows:
- All choreography must be age appropriate. Points will be deducted for any inappropriate or disrespectful movement or costuming.
- All music must be age appropriate and acceptable for WDP’s family audience. Vulgar or profane music is not acceptable. Points will be deducted for inappropriate music.
3. Rules, Regulations and Instructions
Contestants must follow all rules, regulations and instructions provided by the WDP. Failure to do so can result in point deductions from the “Overall Score” of the WDP Competition. Deductions can be administered for the following:
- Missing Orientation Meeting
- Missing a Called Meeting or Rehearsal
- Missing or Late for Rehearsal
- Late for any phase of Competition
- Disobeying or Disrespecting WDP Directors, Faculty or Judges
- Dress Code Violation
- Poor or Uncooperative Attitude
- Use of Foul Language
- *All deductions will be administered at the discretion of the WDP Directors
4. Age Divisions
- Petite Miss/Petite Mr World Dance: Ages 8 & Under
- Junior Miss/Junior Mr World Dance: Ages 9 - 11
- Teen Miss/Teen Mr World Dance: Ages 12 - 14
- Miss/Mr World Dance: Ages 15 -19
Ages for the World Dance Pageant are as of January 1, 2023. All contestants must compete in their designated age division. Contestants may not compete in an older or younger age division.
5. Eligibility
Any dancer who was presented with the title of Mr or Miss World Dance 2022 (for any age division) may not compete in the 2023 World Dance Pageant. We request that 2022 Champions attend the 2023 World Dance Pageant to assist, perform and pass their title onto the 2023 winners.
6. Eligibility - Continued
Any dancer presented with the title of Mr or Miss World Dance (for any age division) may not compete in the same age division after winning the title for that age division.
Preliminary Talent Performances
7. Maximum time Limit
A maximum time limit of 2 minutes 45 seconds will be strictly enforced for the talent presentation.
8. Music
All contestants will be required to submit their music via download through our registration system. Music must be submitted no later than July 10, 2023. Contestants will also be responsible for providing a backup on a flash drive. Each backup flash drive must be clearly marked with the contestant’s name & number. Backup music will be turned in at check-in on the first day of the World Dance Pageant. iPods, iPads, etc. will not be an acceptable method of turning in backup music; only flash drives will be accepted. Flash drives will NOT be returned.
9. Routines
Preliminary Talent Performances will be adjudicated. Routines will also be reviewed to assure that all World Dance Pageant standards are being upheld. The Preliminary Talent Performances will be open to the public.

11. Interview
Contestants will be required to sit before the judging panel for a three-minute interview (Miss/Mr World Dance interviews will be five minutes). The judges will ask contestants questions based on the information provided on the contestant’s interview questionnaire. Other questions may be asked, which will evolve from answers provided by the contestant. The interview portion of the competition will have a maximum point value of 20 points.
12. Audition Classes
Contestants will be required to take three audition classes. A ballet class, jazz class, contemporary/lyrical class, hip hop class and a tap class will be offered. Every contestant is required to take the ballet audition class. Contestants may take all 5 audition classes. If a contestant chooses to take all 5 classes, their 2 lowest scores, between jazz, tap, hip hop & contemporary/lyrical will be dropped. Each class has a maximum point value of 20 points. All audition classes will be closed, spectators will not be permitted.
13. Modeling
Contestants will be required to model their formal wear for adjudication. The modeling portion of the competition will have a maximum point value of 20 points.
14. Finale
All contestants are required to participate in the Finale. The Finale will include:
- Opening Routine Performance
- Contestant Formal Wear Presentation
- Announcement of World Dance Pageant Finalists, to perform talent routines again
- Finalist Performances
- Awards
Dress Code
Preliminary Talent Showcase:
Contestants must wear the same costume for both the Preliminary Talent Performance and in the Talent Finale, if they qualify.
Opening Routine:
Rehearsals
Female Contestants are to wear a black leotard or black top/sports bra with black booty shorts or leggings to all opening routine rehearsals. Dancers must wear black or tan jazz shoes to rehearsals
Male Contestants are to wear a black t-shirt and shorts to all opening routine rehearsals. Dancers must wear black or tan jazz shoes to rehearsals.
Opening routine rehearsals are closed; spectators will not be permitted.
Finale
The WDP will provide a list of the attire needed for the Opening Routine at the Finale. It will be the contestant’s responsibility to provide these items..
Interview:
Female Contestants are required to wear a daytime dress or business type suit for the interview portion of the competition.
Male Contestants are required to wear a dress shirt and tie with dress slacks or a business type suit.
Audition Classes:
Female Contestants: Ballet – Solid Black leotard, pink tights, hair in a bun, no jewelry.
Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical & Tap – Contestant may choose an appropriate dance outfit for these audition classes. No loose clothing or jewelry (i.e. t-shirts, sweatpants, large earrings or necklaces, etc.) may be worn. The Judges will need to be able to see the contestant’s lines to adjudicate properly. A contestant’s look will be taken into consideration during adjudication.
Hip Hop – Contestant
Hip Hop – Contestant may choose an appropriate dance outfit for this audition class.
*The appropriate shoes (ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary/lyrical & tap) must be worn for each audition class.
Male Contestants: Ballet – Solid white t-shirt or muscle shirt tucked in, black tights or shorts.
Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical & Tap – Contestant may choose an appropriate dance outfit for these audition classes. No extremely loose clothing (i.e. sweatpants, over-sized t-shirts, etc.) may be worn. The Judges will need to be able to see the contestant’s lines to adjudicate properly. A contestant’s look will be taken into consideration during adjudication. Hip Hop – Contestant may choose an appropriate dance outfit for this audition class.

*The appropriate shoes (ballet, jazz, contemporary/lyrical & tap) must be worn for each audition class.
Modeling & Finale:
Female Contestants - Petite and Junior Contestants are required to wear a tea length party dress and appropriate shoes. We define tea length as not floor length and not too short. Any length in-between is acceptable. Petite & Junior Contestants should not have floor length dresses. Teen and Miss Contestants are required to wear a floor length evening gown and appropriate shoes.
Male Contestants - Petite and Junior Contestants are required to wear a blazer, tie and dress slacks or a suit with appropriate shoes. Teen and Mr Contestants are required to wear a suit and tie with appropriate shoes.
Required Pictures
- Each contestant must submit (1) high resolution headshot and (1) high resolution dance picture once they have registered.
- Pictures should be submitted through dance bug registration system or emailed to meghan@worlddancepageant.com
- Pictures must be submitted no later than June 20, 2023.
- Headshots can be black & white or color.
- Dance pictures can be posed or action shots. Dance pictures cannot have a competition backdrop or logos on the picture. Picture file should be titled with the dancers name and age division. Ex: Susie Smith.Junior

Dancers with the highest Overall Scores will compete in the Finale.

Awards
The following awards will be presented for each age division:
Male and Female Contestants are combined for the following awards.
- Mr or Miss Personality – voted on by contestants
- Ballet Class Award – dancer with the highest Ballet Class Score
- Jazz Class Award – dancer with the highest Jazz Class Score
- Contemporary/Lyrical Award - dancer with the highest Contemporary/Lyrical Class Score
- Tap Class Award – dancer with the highest Tap Class Score
- Hip Hop Class Award – dancer with the highest Hip Hop Class Score
- Interview Award – dancer with the highest Interview Score
- Modeling Award – dancer with the highest Modeling Score
- Outstanding Performance Award – dancer with the highest Talent score, who does not qualify for the Finale
The following awards will be presented to each age division; separately for male & female contestants:
- World Dance Pageant Champion
- 1st Runner Up
- 2nd Runner Up

Appearance Agreement
I understand that the Star Dance Alliance is the organizer of the World Dance Pageant to be held in July of 2023. I further understand that the complete event and performances will be videotaped, photographed, and offered to all performers, family and friends for purchase and their personal use. I also understand that the videotapes and photographs may be used by the Star Dance Alliance and its affiliated companies for promotional material including brochures, advertisements and televised commercials for an unspecified number of runs. I hereby grant permission to the Star Dance Alliance, its successors, assignee, licensees, sponsors, TV networks and all commercial exhibitors the exclusive right to videotape and photograph and further, utilize the performer’s name, face, voice and appearances stated above without reservation or limitation. In granting this permission, I understand that the Star Dance Alliance and its affiliated companies are under no obligation to exercise any of its right and privileges granted by the participant.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Any cancellation prior to June 15, 2023 will be assessed a $100 cancellation fee. Any cancellation after June 15, 2023 will not be refunded. All cancellations must be in writing.
